Week 5 Recap: Mid Season Stride
We’re coming up on the last 2 games of the season. This is where we see the middle of the pack teams either make a run for playoffs or ruin someone else’s chances. Week 5 brought a lot of upsets and unexpected wins, notably Jolly Rogers handing over a win to SON (game 1 was a ff but we won’t take the W from SON, I know they need a pickmeup).
Week 5 Wrap-Up
SON (2) vs JRBP (0)
Due to a ff in game 1, they scrambled to find a sub and no other than the one and only Downfall. If you don’t know who that is, chances are you haven’t been in competitive for long enough. Not a lot to say about Game 2 except SON dominating every lane and position, winning with 24 to 8 kills. Even though they did have Downfall as a sub, all the other spots were the same. Not sure what was going on with JRBP this last week but if they can pull it together for the next 2 games, they will for sure be one of the top teams in playoffs.
Hyperion Shield (2) vs TD Wildcard (0)
Another remarkable game from Gitano on Asol. Honestly, most of Shield did well. It felt really uncharacteristic of TD Wildcard to lose in such a fashion but we’ll give credit where it’s due. Elohim and gitano having great games. Oh and may be Swag too but he only plays tanks so. As I said at the beginning of the season, I do think Shield is one of the top teams. However they will have to face JRBP next week so we’ll see who can take the dub.
Phantastic Academy (2) vs Conduit Monarch (0)
GoldenB0B shows up big for Phantastic, playing the aggressive Lillia and Skarner picks. They’ve got to play TD next week but I really feel that Phantastic have found their footing and can take down most of the top teams if they haven’t already. If they play around their bot lane and can snowball through them, they can come out with a 2-0 to finish the season off. Conduit have struggled but I do believe they can beat Team Skyline for the last week of the season. If this roster sticks together for another split, I could see them improving.
Team Skyline (2) vs Hyperion Gaming (0)
Hyperion struggled to get any sort of play going this series. While there were lots of good moments, it felt like Team Skyline capitalized on their team composition better. While the Skyline roster has seen several shifts over the split, Brandonneedshelp came up pretty big for his team in the jungle. Pandorum was a monster in mid lane but the team around him collapsed, trying to force things to gain momentum. Although Hyperion did better than they have, they are at the bottom now with no wins.
