Welcome to the final week of the regular season! For this week’s content if you are statistically eliminated from playoffs your team will be removed from my power ranking for the playoffs. I want to shout out to all the teams who played this season and hopefully to see you all grow into better players next split! Now let's get into it!
Week 6 Game Results -
Great White 2 - 0 TFF Misfits - I cannot say that this result is shocking, TFF has been having roster issues all split long and while Great White hasn’t had a stable roster either it is more stable then what TFF has been going through. The jungle change did not affect Great White and their new jungle had a strong showing in game 1 on Viego. For Slappy mid he did not seem like a hindrance in this series in particular but perhaps he just was not challenged so it is a role swap we will need to keep an eye on. JayJ in game 2 locked Voli and went deathless into a Viegar top, I think TFF was just having fun from the looks of this draft. Great White has looked playoffs for themselves and will need to 2-0 this week to have a chance for second seed.
SON Lero 0 - 2 AIE - Hurricane diff. SON had to play 2 off roles this series and while there may have been a small chance for them it just never worked out in their favor. A birdie told me that Accel had promised to have the series done before 10pm EST and he did succeed at doing so. AIE had some sloppy moments in the game but overall seemed to just be a cut above. Kiwi was a monster on Gnar in game 1 and had a penta kill stolen away from him, while on the flip side DevilsAlterEgo was on a warpath game 2 and was gifted a penta. Justice for Kiwi! But all in all I think if AIE cleans up some of their gameplay they can threaten some teams in the playoffs.
Imperial Gaming 2 - 1 Monkey Business - I thought after their loss IG was going to slip more but they did bounce back this week. Even if Azure didn’t carry on Zeri again he is still an ADC merchant and busted out Vayne in game 1 to get his team the win then full back on Ahri in game 3. Grim, for Monkey’s, was the better ADC in game 2 and had a fantastic game on Caitlyn, a champ I know him most for. I think both of these teams are closer in power level than most people think and they will both be making waves in the playoffs next week. Hopefully both of them play at their best and make the playoffs interesting.
Dorado Rho 2 - 0 Hydro Lotus - I’m sorry for not believing in you Dorado, but you didn’t have to let Big News do that to them. 19 kill Olaf game into a 7 kill Sett game, this dude was angry and just picked champs that beat up on people. I still think Dorado is the team to fear come playoffs and anything short of the championship is a disappointment after the season they had. Lotus seemed to struggle when having to swing up against the top brass in Plat but I still think there may be a few positives they can take from this series. They are locked for playoffs so should look at honing their style this week and get ready for future series.
Conduit Prime 0 - 2 SG Proton - I do not think anyone is surprised by this result. SG needed to win this game to make sure they made the playoffs and they did just that. For the first time this season we saw exactly what we expected Proton to be, but it was against the weakest team in Plat so we can take it with a grain of salt. If they want to turn people into believers they will have to do it again this week, but I am here to hate if they do not.
MZRY 2 - 0 Hydro Mako - MZRY has cemented themselves as the second best team in this group and will look to lock that up this week. They have been consistent all season long and did just that again this week. Wall St and Narva having big games again, Jesus impacting the map, and Tortuga and Trux being solid in bot lane. I believe this team is a threat to win it all and people should want to avoid them in the playoffs if possible.
TFF Banana 0 - 2 Monkey Champagne - I have been skeptical of TFF Banana since they made their support swap and this only doubles it down for me. They looked weak all over the map besides mid in game 1. If they want to stay in the playoffs they will need to clean up their game but I am unsure if they will be able to do so. Champagne had another solid team win this week where no one role stood out above the others. They seem to have moments where they play sloppily, I am just basing this off of post game screen KDAs, but are still a very good team playing around each other well. With this win we will be seeing them in the playoffs and they will look to cause problems for teams who aren’t thoroughly prepared for them.
Conduit Revelation 2 - 0 Atomic Desperadoes - Late season roster changes, role swaps, and sloppy play killed Desperadoes chances for playoffs. While they are not statistically removed from the playoffs, I think they will be the team to miss out in Zaun. Kisame in the jungle role does not move me at all and they seemed to lose team identity with this role change. Conduit though once again had a dominant win. Just like for Dorado if they do not win it all it is a disappointment with the names they have on this roster. They will be first seed coming out of Zaun and are my favorites to meet Dorado in finals.
