Welcome to the last issue of Cheong Chiming In for the Plat season. I first wanted to thank Trux for reaching out to me to write content for this league and a thank you to BOL for giving me this chance for casting and content. Second, thank you to all the teams that participated in this season. Thank you to all the BOL staff as well for making this all work. Now for this content this week I took the time to dm all the players participating in the finals, and got 9/10 to respond (Jesus responded when I was playing a BO5 last night so sadly he will not be included.)
MZRY Obsidian Vice

Looking over the whole season that you had, what was your proudest moment up to this point?
My proudest moment would have to be semi-finals for 2 reasons.
I got to pull out my old OTP Riven
We defied the odds and proved everyone wrong and showed we aren't the team to be taken lightly
Being considered an underdog team for your semi finals match vs Dorado, how did it feel to come up with the win to make it to finals?
I had a lot of faith in the roster and coach we have going into the regular season so it was really nice to see our work paid off. I had no doubt in my mind that we weren't gonna make it.
Game 1 you guys suffered a crushing base race loss, how did the team handle that situation to be able to bounce back and take the series?
We kind of coin flipped game 1 but we felt confident still because of how well we were playing most of that game and knew we kind of just griefed ourselves. It sucked losing on my aatrox but we went into the rest of the series with a "we decide if we lose this series or not, not them" mentality.
You will be playing against Chai in the finals and you two play lane two different ways. How do you think that match up is going to play out this time around?
The same way it went down week 7 haha. There were very few top laners that stuck out to me in this tournament and Chai is one of them. He is a very good top laner in this league and I have a lot of respect for how he plays the game. Due to how much I respect him, it just makes me want to top gap him even more.
This season you have shown out top lane, putting up some crazy good solo lane stats. Is this the style you had always [layed or something you had to learn when joining this MZRY roster?
I would say both tbh, I always have had that planned out to just be a raid boss top lane but when I tried out for mzry they did kind of put me in a position to pick up the mantle in a way.
Are you nervous with this being your first finals appearance?
heh this is my first finals appearance in the big tournaments (examples: risen, titan and bol) but I have been in finals for /ALL (idk if you know that tournament) but I would say I am a little nervous but not like scared, if anything I am super pumped to go in there and show everyone what I can do as a player
In the finals you will be going up against Conduit, is this who you expected to be facing or does this come as a surprise?
No, not at all conduit is the big bad boogeyman in my opinion ever since I have joined the competitive scene I have always lost to conduit teams or well all the power house teams tbh haha. but conduit teams in my eyes are always expected to go far if anything we should be the current big bad boogeyman since we blew into the scene by surprise.I think this has been lowkey most wanted to watch match for most people, they just didn't know it until semi's were over.
If you had to pick one player from the Plat League from this season, who would you pick to be this league's MVP?
Is it bad to say myself? I usually look at top laners only, so if we are talking about top laners its either me or chai. Other than that a player that isn't top lane that has caught my eye would be either wall st or manveer.
If you could remove one champ for League, who would it be and why?
shaco, get rid of that abomination; All he does is terrorize my ranked games haha.
Lastly, anyone you would like to shout out?
A couple, shout out to my boy JJ for helping me make the run for best top laner in plat league, shout out to the MZRY roster, shout out to my coaches Newport and Jcorecore for getting me right, shout out to my fans and the doubters.
Mid - Wall St
Looking over the whole season that you had, what was your proudest moment up to this point?
Proudest single moment? I can't really say. I am proud just to be on this team. I am proud to have made it to finals for the first time ever. I am proud to have a coach who has been to every practice and match for 7 months straight. I am proud to have teammates who haven't given up on me through the whole season. And I am proud to have so much support from MZRY with high elo players to teach me specific champions, manager that has been the backbone and #1 cheerleader, and MZRY staff who fund our team and showcase Obsidian with S tier casting skills/production, and players who show out to our streamed matches to cheer us on!
Being considered an underdog team for your semi finals match vs Dorado, how did it feel to come up with the win to make it to finals?
The excitement exponentially builds with each tick the nexus is destroyed in match 5. The feeling of being an underdog and having something to prove is a feeling most people can relate to. It's no exaggeration to say MZRY is the underdog, in every role there's a strong case to be made Dorado Rho has the stronger roster. We came to the match with a very clear plan on how to beat DOG. Every person on MZRY believed we would walk away victorious and were able to manifest that vision of finals with all of the planning and preparation we had done leading up to the match. I truly think it's easy to get caught up in roster building and finding the best possible 5 players. Many of our players are unknowns, passed over by other teams, or players other teams wouldn't even bother to give a tryout. And so each week all of us come to our playoff match with something to prove and our match with DOG was no different. The excitement of our victory is short lived as the job isn't done yet and we look to finals next week.
You will be going up against Derisin this week in lane. How do you think that mid lane matchup will play out?
Derisin is one of the best teamfighting midlaners in the league. We both I think have a pretty good read on each other, how we play and draft, and the challenge will be to surprise one another. I will struggle to create any small advantages in the mid lane up against Derisin.
You have played Riven mid this season, are you cooking up some more spice for finals? You don't need to get specific
Absolutely. I have quite a few picks in my pocket that haven't been seen this season, I'm always looking for the right angle. Fortunately I have a good coach to take the reigns and look at more suitable picks with less narrow win conditions and stronger in the meta.
With this being your first finals, are you nervous seeing the names on the other side of the rift?
I should say so! A couple of their players aren't allowed to play in other Platinum leagues since they're just too good. Given their success this split, it's easy to see why
In the finals you will be going up against Conduit, is this who you expected to be facing or does this come as a surprise?
No I'm not that surprised. I would be just as worried about our chances if Monkey Business won the nail biting Bo5 however. In the end though Zaun Division is just built different. No room for the Piltover Practice Division teams in finals!
If you had to pick one player from the Plat League from this season, who would you pick to be this leagues MVP?
If I were to exclude MZRY players I would say Fenbach.
If you could remove one champ for League, who would it be and why?
Yorick, it's not really enjoyable gameplay with or against.
Lastly, anyone you would like to shout out?
Shout out to our AD and JG subs Epicmonkey and Caius, we took home Ws thanks to them stepping in. And soup man AKA Pot of Greed #1 all role sub pro lurker Shout out to our manager and #1 biggest fan Shout out Zelveron and Big Z Shout out Stunned Gaming folks who helped me grow Huge shout out Coach Newport, nobody wants us to win more than him and we can't let him down
ADC- Tortuga
Looking over the whole season that you had, what was your proudest moment up to this point?
honestly I think it’s been the whole split, trux and I have grown a lot this split alone. From being considered possibly one of the weakest bot laners to just being a solid one that can hold our own at times is a big achievement for me. Maybe it’s not something to be very proud of, but i'm happy with that.
Being considered an underdog team for your semi finals match vs Dorado, how did it feel to come up with the win to make it to finals?
Honestly after game one I honestly laughed at it because it was the SGP lose angle. We figured if we were able to see the light game one just a bit we can def take games off of them. The win feels great but the job is not done, gotta face Mr Manveer himself. Excited for the matchup, win or lose the experience will be worth it!
You have been underrated compared to the other adcs in the league this year. Do you think you aren't getting enough credit or do you think that it is a reasonable rating?
I think it’s a reasonable rating, I don’t think I’ve been doing too hot this year compared to everyone else. My cs numbers compared to everyone else are probably the worst statistically.
This is your second finals in a row, are you hoping your past experience will help you in the finals this time?
Honestly I can’t really say if that experience will help when I realistically got carried last split much harder than this split. But I think I know what the feeling is more like so I won’t be playing so anxious or think it’s doomed after we lose game one.
What have you learned with playing with a long standing support like Trux?
Honestly Trux is a character himself, I’ve never seen someone critique themselves so hard and put in so much effort like he has. I don’t think people give him the credit he deserves because either, They don’t like him. They're actually worse than him but are delusional. All in all, trux has been the voice of our team when it comes to communication. He’s made the game a lot easier for me.
In the finals you will be going up against Conduit, is this who you expected to be facing or does this come as a surprise?
I think what should come off as a surprise is us beating dorado, I didn’t doubt us…. But I also didn’t know who was showing up from our team to play that day. We all have our good and bad days, we just happened to have landed on heads for the flip. I will never doubt the goat manveer, all roads lead to him this split it seems. Hopefully we can take a game or two off them (jk pls make this a 3-0 whichever side I don’t want to sleep late)
If you had to pick one player from the Plat League from this season, who would you pick to be this leagues MVP?
Alf, no reason he’s the best there is
If you could remove one champ for League, who would it be and why?
Would definitely have to be Ornn, the item upgrades his whole kit is annoying especially when I play all my ranged champ mele.
Lastly, anyone you would like to shout out?
Shoutout to all the content/production/staff at bol. Oh and my teammates too for having to deal with me too I guess.
Support - Trux
Looking over the whole season that you had, what was your proudest moment up to this point?
Beating Dorado, it's a match I've been thinking about since I saw they entered a team this season. Conduit have been winning BOL chips lately sure, but Dorado always fields the toughest teams.
Being considered an underdog team for your semi finals match vs Dorado, how did it feel to come up with the win to make it to finals?
Good to prove something to the analysts, and the yappers. We still have a very tough team to face in finals, and Nasian himself, and his roster, have faced much harder opponents than us.
What have you enjoyed the most about playing with Tortuga this season?
For the reasons I asked for him to be on the team, he's a much stronger adc than people anticipate, dare I say one of the best in Plat, rock solid mental, and he will 9/10 times do exactly what you ask him to do.
You have been around the plat scene for awhile as you had said before. What is the most important value that you bring to this team?
I try to be flexible and fill whatever support role or role as a player my team needs to win. Hopefully my experience that I have brings something to the table as well.
In the finals you will be going up against Conduit, is this who you expected to be facing or does this come as a surprise?
Nope expected either them or Dorado (if we are talking start of the season expectations)
If you had to pick one player from the Plat League from this season, who would you pick to be this leagues MVP?
Probably I would pick Manveer. Hes been popping off all season long with insane KDAs, not only that but he has been doing it in the harder group. Great spacing, great champ pool, a smart player and a great team player. All traits that are very difficult to find at this level of play
If you could remove one champ for League, who would it be and why?
Ive always hated kalistas champ design so I guess her.
Lastly, anyone you would like to shout out?
My entire team: Our coach Newport for doing a great job keeping the team on task, teaching us to be better players and teammates, and maximizing us to the best of our ability. Narva for keeping his head in the game no matter how tilted he might get, and being such a strong topside threat for the team. JesuswithJson, he's come a long way since the start of the season. From full clearing his jungle while we are autoing the enemy nexus to objective calling and strong play making. The most growth I have seen from a player in one split. Wallst, a very skilled player, always hyping up his teammates, and willing to play whatever the team needs. Tortuga, mental like bull, will occasionally turn off his brain and int into the enemy team, but overall one of, if not the best adc I have played with at this level of competition.
Conduit Revelation
Top - Chai
Looking over the whole season that you had, what was your proudest moment up to this point?
individually: not getting dicked on by Fendaddy
team wise: our comebacks against Monkey Businss & TFF Banana in the regular season
When you orignally joined this Conduit roster did it feel like there was an extra layer of pressure to win a championship this year with the names on the roster?
not really. It's never championship or bust. I think there's expectations that we'll be competitive but there's always going to be challenges in every league
Do you consider yourself lucky that you are avoid BIG NEWS in the finals after what he did to you last time you made playoffs?
LMFAOOOOO this f***ing guy
yes and no. yes in the sense that BIG NEWS is exactly the type of top laner i have the most trouble with, someone that plays super aggro on bruiser picks. After all I got 3-0'd for a reason. No cus Narva is definitely not a slouch either. I think Narva improved a ton since our brief match up last BOL regular season and he's definitely one to give me challenges. At the end of the day, I've already gone against 2 strong top laners in Steelfan and Fenbach. I still stand by my statement that Fenbach is the best plat top so if I can match up against him, I'll hopefully do alright against anyone else.
With this only being your third comp split, how do you feel you have grown as a player?
in game, its just better match up knowledge? I was a jungle main that role swapped top.
Outside of that, I think i'm largely the same player. Outside of game - I think its developing the chemistry my teammates. I credit a lot to my teammates to be willing to give me a voice, and willing to take criticism when warranted (shoutout manveer/derisin).
You are kind of the weakside king in Plat, is this the style that you like to play or just feel that this is the correct way to win in a competitive setting?
Bread would disagree
It's the style that I played since role swapping and just kinda stuck with it. I was new to the lane and generally only played tanks top since I don't have the hands to play mechanical champs. I've been fortunate to play with 2 dominant ADCs in Manveer and Yomi, so my play style can naturally provide them more resources for them to carry. I think you can definitely win in comp with a strong side top. I'm just not a player that can pull it off well.
In the finals you will be going up against MZRY, is this who you expected to be facing or does this come as a surprise?
A little? I expected Dorado to come out just because they're Dorado but I knew that it would have been a close series. After all MZRY beat us 2-0.
If you could remove one champ for League, who would it be and why?
Yone cus f*** that champ
Lastly, anyone you would like to shout out?
Shoutout my teammates and Conduit for supporting us. Also shout out Gav/Socks cus they're awesome
Jungle - Nasian
Looking over the whole season that you had, what was your proudest moment up to this point?
There's no single moment I'm proud of ATM. (Yes we reverse swept, but those first 2 games went exactly how we wanted in terms of pinching champion pools, we knew we could swing the tide once batman was put in a rough spot). This team came in expecting to make a deep playoffs run and we wouldnt have settled for anything less than where we're at right now. However, I am most proud of how much this team has grown from the start of Bol to now. And the level of trust we put into each other.
So you came into the season as one of the favorites to win it all. Do you think that you guys were held to high standard before playing your first game, or do you think it was valid for the roster you had?
I think the standard set was valid. Not because of the names on the team, but because of how we play together. Yes we have good players but to paraphrase genetics talking about one of our other teams "the sum of the whole team is greater than any single player on it". Split us up and I don't think any one of us can carry any specific teams to finals.
This is probably your last split playing in BOL Plat, what are some of your greatest memories looking back at your time playing here?
Looking back on Bol I think one of the best memories was the first chip we won here (second for conduit) Playing with dobs, stubby, trashpanda, dark, and you. That was one of the most entertaining and fun seasons where we really pushed ourselves from a quarters/semis org to people who just want to have fun and play the best we can.
In the finals you will be going up against MZRY, is this who you expected to be facing or does this come as a surprise?
Honestly Dorado has been on the downfall in plat, Sure they were "expected" to make it but right from the start we as a team knew mzry was underrated and shouldn't be taken lightly. I'm not surprised.I think if sg had vesu for their series they could've pulled a 3-2 over Dorado and we would have a potentially different finals.I would've enjoyed seeing mzry and sg in semis.
If you had to pick one player from the Plat League from this season, who would you pick to be this leagues MVP?
Theglizzler. That guy's so good at the game!
If you could remove one champ for League, who would it be and why?
Hwei, nobody needs that bullshit. Dog champ and only insecure people play it
Lastly, anyone you would like to shout out?
Shout out the content team, casters, to's and my team. But most of all shout out genetics and everyone in conduit who supports us and makes this all happen.
Mid - Derisin
Looking over the whole season that you had, what was your proudest moment up to this point?
Thinking of one moment is tough. But really i think Games 3-5 of our series vs Monkey Business are what I am proud of the most. I felt like I had really let the team down in games 1 and 2 but I was determined to stay positive for myself and my team. I was like a broken clock telling my team we were still in it and right where we wanted to be in terms of the fearless drafts for a 5 game series. I'm just glad it paid off and I didn't look like a fraud.
For most of the season, people have not given you the credit that you or your teammates think you deserve. Do you think you are being slept on as a player or is it more so that people don't know who you are?
I don't think I am slept on in the slightest. If it's anything people don't know me that much since i haven't been around very long and am just not on everyone's radar. I also think my biggest strengths as a player aren't things that are going to put me on top of stats boards or even have me end the game with a good KDA. My focus every game is on how we win that game and luckily enough because of my teammates being incredible that focus often becomes how do I enable them.
You are getting to play with some big names in the plat scene with Nasian, Manveer, Chai and Raven being on your team. How does it feel playing with such established players and what have you learned from them this season?
Its amazing, Idk what league angel or spirit is looking down on me but for my whole (short) career i've been lucky to be with players I have come to consider "the best" in their roles. I can't really write down everything i've learned from this team because it would be a book. The one major thing i've learned though is: I just need to, "BE SMAHT" and not int lol
In the finals you will be going up against MZRY, is this who you expected to be facing or does this come as a surprise?
Its a definitely a little surprising. No disrespect at all to MZRY but when you see a Dorado team heading into Semi-Finals having never lost a single game it becomes a pretty safe bet to assume they are going to make it all the way. However, MZRY did beat us in the regular season. Regardless of our (semi disrespectful) Drafts that series. I got diffed hard by Wall St and especially got stomped in a lane where he and I were playing what I consider to be two of my strongest champions. I know they are a strong team and they play a very different way than the Dorado team I have been waiting to face all split so it's going to get really interesting against them and I'm so pumped for it.
If you had to pick one player from the Plat League from this season, who would you pick to be this leagues MVP?Nasian 100% Not even a questionIf you could remove one champ for League, who would it be and why?
Shaco, Bc then i won't have any shaco jgs in soloq anymore. If its my shaco i lose, if its their shaco i lose. And lastly, anyone you would like to shout out?
Yeah obviously shout out my whole team Chai, Nasian, Manveer, and (especially) Raven the Goat. Also would like to shout out Genetics and Conduit for taking us in and supporting us. Most importantly i'd like to shout out our coach Chris. I know he can be somewhat of a divisive person in the scene but He is the reason i started in comp at all. He gave me a chance at the beginning of this year and has stuck with and supported me so I have to give him a big thanks.
ADC - Domination(Manveer) -
Looking over the whole season that you had, what was your proudest moment up to this point?
Having the highest KDA in the league. No but seriously I think it would be to make playoffs as the 1 seed without roster changes. Last time in BOL (with nasian) I went 1-9 with a different roster change every week.
So most people consider you to be the best ADC in plat currently, do you consider yourself the best or do you think someone is more deserving of that?
No, I don’t think I am. Scorelines may make it seem like that, but I would say my team, especially my support, sets me up for success a lot more than what I do with my own skill. You could pick other plat ADC players and plug them into this team and they would be seen as the best plat ADC most likely. I think other players like tortuga, yomi, and sloppy could easily have that title over me.
What have you learned the most from playing with IllicitRaven this split?
The thing I’ve learned the most playing with Raven is to always be ready to follow up. She is the main shot caller in the lane even though she doesn’t talk or ping often. I just have to always be on my toes and be ready to follow up because she usually gets me leads from it as a result. Less autopilot.
In the finals you will be going up against MZRY, is this who you expected to be facing or does this come as a surprise?
I’m not surprised - I had Mzry winning it all. I think they have very strong players and are probably the best “team” in the sense that they seem to know their identity well from what I’ve seen in playoffs from them. Also #yeettrux
If you could remove one champ for League, who would it be and why?
K'Sante(i cant copy the whole copypasta sorry Manveer)
Lastly, anyone you would like to shout out?
Obviously my teammates, but shoutout to Chris and Genetics
Support - IllicitRaven -
Looking over the whole season that you had, what was your proudest moment up to this point?
Probably the reverse sweep the rest of the season felt pretty chill and that series was one that actually felt like we could lose. I'm proud of the whole team for being able to come back from a two game deficit especially with how tilting the second game was.
So you got to lane with Manveer this season, what was the most that you learned from playing with him this season?
Probably just how to chill out in laning phase. I usually like playing aggro and going for 2v2 kills in lane but manveer likes scaling and playing for team fights which I think works really well for us but it was definitely an adjustment at the beginning of the season.
You are one of the more veteran players on the roster. What do you as a player do to help this team succeed at its current level?
Idk if I contribute much tbh derisin and nasian are the main shotcallers and I think everyone on the team is cracked. I just have to not int and find engages in mid game.
You will be playing against Trux, who has been around the plat scene for a long time. How do ou think the 2v2 lane will go?
I think lane will be pretty boring. I've played against trux before and I think he’s a solid player but I don’t think he’ll be able to get any 2v2 kills on us. Provided we don’t int of course. Like dying from an invade and lvl1 bush cheese with both sums up.
You recently had played in a finals yourself and had made multiple runs in playoffs in other leagues as well. Are you nervous for this finals or will you treat it as any other series?
I think it’ll be like any other series until we get to match point. Obviously I’ll be bummed if we lose but I know it could go either way and I think at the end of the day the better team will win.
In the finals you will be going up against MZRY, is this who you expected to be facing or does this come as a surprise?
It comes as a surprise. I definitely expected dorado to win but also I think it was hard to gauge how good mzry was cuz we decided to absolutely run it in our series against them and I haven’t really kept up with how they did into other teams.
If you had to pick one player from the Plat League from this season, who would you pick to be this leagues MVP?
Uh it’s hard for me to say cuz I don’t keep up with other teams. I think on revelation though it would be nasian. He’s the main shotcaller, has great macro, and you can always count on him to be making a lead somewhere in the game whether it’s through ganks or flame horizoning the enemy jungle.
If you could remove one champ for League, who would it be and why?
Aurelion sol. His e is super annoying and combined with his qs ability to absolutely shred while you’re just unable to move. It feels unplayable if you don’t have the right comp and aren’t ahead.
Lastly, anyone you would like to shout out?The whole team pretty much. I think it’s difficult to pick a standout cuz everyone on the team is good and everyone on the team has the ability to carry and has done so. They’re great players who always try to find some way back into the game if we’re behind and still make it competitive. They’re also very fun to play with and rarely tilt enough that it impacts gameplay which I think is very important in a team.
